The Industry Standard features news and analysis about the technologies that are changing people's lives and the ways in which companies do business. Topics include the Internet, mobile devices and applications, advanced software and hardware technologies, venture funding, mergers and acquisitions, and other subjects of interest to business and technology leaders. The Standard has won a number of editorial awards since being relaunched as an online-only publication, including three Best in Business awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers and a gold Tabbie from Trade, Association and Business Publications International.
The Standard also has a prediction market, which aggregates community knowledge in a quantified fashion to better understand product developments and forecast industry trends. Think of the prediction market as an Internet Economy Index -- a way to track the sentiment surrounding Web businesses as well as other technology trends.

John is also one of the founders of Network World, and was formerly president and editorial director of the company.
